Workshop on UNESCO conventions for culture and heritage
CISP in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education, The Somali Academy of Science and Arts and Unesco Regional Office for East Africa held one day workshop on July 26, 2018 in Mogadishu about UNESCO’s Conventions on Cultural Heritage. Influential stakeholders from various ministries, cultural institutions and cultural experts participated to the workshop.
The main objective of the workshop was to raise awareness on the importance for Somalia to ratify the World Heritage Convention to protect and preserve its cultural heritage The workshop is part of a European-Union (EU)-funded Project entitled “Promoting a Culture of Inclusion in Somalia” that CISP is currently implementing in Somalia. The project also foresees four workshops in Mogadishu to support the Somali national authorities with the process of ratification of the UNESCO Conventions in the field of culture.
