Jiim Sheikh Muumin, is a prominent musician and oud composer. Born 1945, he began performing when he was 17 after being trained on guitar and several other music instruments by Italian musicians.
Prior to the Somali civil war, he maintained a successful career in which he reached "rock star" status. He has remained in Mogadishu in spite of local upheavals.
He is one of almost dozen composers who shaped the contemporary Somali Music, in the golden era of Somali
Music (Late 60s to early 80s). He was the chief composer and tutor of Onkod Band. He has composed for many
singers and his composition is regarded masterpieces by most Somali musicians new and old.
On March, 2020, he awarded and recognized as one of the greatest
Oud player and composer in Somalia for his unique style.
