He is loyal to traditional Somali Oud Music, known as Kaban Music while his peers venture to synthesized dance and hiphop music. Hanfar makes the oud appealing to the youth by his theatrical way of playing the Oud and his soulful vocals. He is accompanied by keyboard and drums and plays his music to the public in hotels and restaurants in Mogadishu.
